JURABS.
Jurabs (jorabs, jorop) are the thick knitted socks made and used by the peoples of Caucasus and Central Asia.
In Tajikistan jurabs are the traditionally manufactured knitted colored goods being the element of the national clothes. They are made of sheep wool, processed in a special way, then colored. They are knitted by one crochet hook. They are light but very warm. Knitting of thick woolen stockings is widely developed in Pamir. Only there one can find the most beautiful, bright jurabs. Every woman combines red, yellow, green, brown, black and white colors and introduces new motives into traditional ornament. The most popular motives of the ornament are falcon▓s breast, swastika, scorpions, three-stage pyramids, etc.
